"Visual Impact played a significant role in providing the gear and crafting the solution for The Ultimatum SA on Netflix. As long-time supporters of Blackmagic Design, we maintain a comprehensive range of their equipment in our rental inventory.
This was a 24-camera project, with four PTZ-style cameras installed across six villas.
The success of this setup was made possible by Blackmagic’s exceptional products. We deployed 26 Blackmagic HyperDecks and the 8K Constellation to manage all incoming video feeds. For the PTZ operators, we used two Blackmagic 16x16 multiviews, allowing them to monitor their feeds and single out the camera they were controlling at any moment. SmartHub controllers were also programmed to give operators a quick and seamless way to switch between cameras.
Since the distance between the control room and the villas was over 500 meters, running SDI cables wasn’t feasible. Thanks to Blackmagic’s fiber-to-SDI converters, we easily ran fiber lines for all video feeds and converted them back to SDI at both ends without issue.
