Sennheiser SR IEM G4-C Wireless Stereo Monitoring Transmitter

The Sennheiser SR IEM G4-C is a professional, half-rack wireless stereo in-ear monitoring (IEM) transmitter from the industry-standard Evolution Wireless G4 series. Housed in a rugged, full-metal chassis, it is engineered to deliver pristine, high-fidelity monitor mixes with ultimate RF reliability for touring musicians, theater productions, houses of worship, and broadcast studios.

This specific variant operates on the C Band frequency spectrum (734.000 MHz to 776.000 MHz). This 42 MHz switching bandwidth provides up to 1,680 selectable frequencies, allowing engineers to anchor a clean, intermodulation-free RF link even in crowded local wireless environments.

Key System Performance and Integration Attributes

  • Variable RF Output Power: Features switchable RF transmission power—Low (10 mW), Standard (30 mW), and High (50 mW). This allows monitors to adapt natively to the environment, maximizing range and line-of-sight penetration on large festival stages while preventing intermodulation overload in tighter, multi-system studio spaces.

  • Sennheiser HDX Compander Technology: Utilizes Sennheiser’s proprietary HDX companding architecture to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (greater than 90 dB). It drastically minimizes standard analog transmission hiss, ensuring studio-grade acoustic clarity across a flat 25 Hz to 15,000 Hz monitoring spectrum.

  • Network Integration & WSM Software Control: Outfitted with an integrated RJ45 Ethernet port, the transmitter hooks directly into network switches. This permits multi-channel coordination, remote tracking, and live RF environment charting using the Sennheiser Wireless Systems Manager (WSM) software platform.

  • Flexible Audio Routing Architecture: The back panel features dual balanced XLR-1/4" combo inputs for incoming stereo/mono mixes, alongside dual balanced Loop Out 1/4" TRS jacks. This allows the incoming monitor mix to be chained directly to adjacent transmitters or multi-track recording matrices without requiring passive signal splitters.

Field Configuration and RF Best Practices

Stereo vs. Mono / Focus Mode Configuration: Ensure the transmitter’s internal menu match-pairs with your performer’s bodypack receiver setup. If you are sending two distinct monitor mixes (e.g., Mix 1 on Left, Mix 2 on Right), set the transmitter to Mono mode. This allows the performer to use Sennheiser's Focus Mode on their EK IEM G4 receiver to balance and pan between their own instrument/vocal volume and the global band mix natively from the stage floor.

Optimizing Antenna Line-of-Sight: To avoid dropouts and ensure standard 100-meter (300 feet) operational tracking, the BNC rod antenna should ideally be line-of-sight to the stage performers. If you are mounting the SR IEM G4 deep inside a metal flight case or server enclosure, use the included GA 3 front-mount hardware panel to bring the BNC connection straight to the front plate of the rack face, away from shielding metal chassis layers.
