The Blackmagic Design Spares - Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (PCC6KPro) - Service Kit is an essential "first-aid" package for the 6K Pro. Because the "Pro" model is physically more complex than the standard 4K or 6K—featuring an internal ND filter mechanism and a high-brightness tilting screen—this kit contains the parts most likely to suffer from wear and tear in the field.

What is Included in the Kit?

The service kit is designed to address the most common points of mechanical failure and environmental exposure:

  • Port Cover Set: A complete set of flexible rubber covers for the side inputs (XLR, HDMI, USB-C, and Power). These protect the high-bandwidth connectors from dust and moisture.

  • Battery Door Assembly: A replacement door for the NP-F570 compartment, including the hinge pin and spring.

  • Chassis Screw Set: A full collection of the various Torx and Philips screws used to hold the carbon fiber polycarbonate body together.

  • Mounting Inserts: Replacement $1/4"-20$ threaded bushings for the top and bottom of the camera, which can become loose or stripped with frequent cage mounting.

  • Tilt-Screen Fasteners: Specialized washers and screws for the articulating screen hinge.

Why the 6K Pro Kit is Unique

Unlike the standard Pocket 6K, the Pro version requires specific maintenance items due to its unique feature set:

  1. High-Brightness Thermal Gaskets: Because the $1,500\text{nit}$ screen generates significant heat, the kit often includes specialized internal thermal pads that ensure the camera doesn't throttle during long takes.

  2. ND Filter Seals: The internal ND filter system requires the chassis to be airtight to prevent dust from getting trapped between the filters and the sensor. This kit includes the seals necessary to maintain that "clean room" environment inside the body.

  3. Hinge Tensioners: The 6K Pro’s tilting screen can become "floppy" over time; the service kit allows you to refresh the friction points of the hinge.

When to Use This Kit

  • Loss of Port Flaps: Operating without these covers exposes the delicate internal circuit boards to humidity. Replacing them is the easiest way to prevent long-term corrosion.

  • Stripped Threads: If your top handle or tripod plate no longer tightens securely, the internal brass or steel inserts likely need to be replaced using the hardware in this kit.

  • Restoring Resale Value: Replacing scuffed rubber covers and a loose battery door can significantly upgrade the "grade" of the camera if you are looking to sell it on the second-hand market.

Technical Installation Note

The 6K Pro is significantly more difficult to service than previous models.

  • The Screen Ribbon: If you are opening the chassis to replace mounting points or screws, be extremely careful of the wide ribbon cable connecting the tilting LCD. It is very thin and easily torn.

  • Peeling the Rubber: To access several of the main chassis screws, you must gently peel back the rubber grip material. Use a hair dryer on a low setting to soften the adhesive first; if you rip the rubber, you will need to buy a separate "Grip Replacement Kit."

  • Torque Management: The camera body is made of a carbon fiber composite. Do not over-tighten the screws. They should be "snug plus a quarter turn." Over-torquing will crack the screw bosses in the plastic frame.

Expert Tip: When replacing the battery door, pay close attention to the tiny torsion spring. If it isn't seated in its designated groove, the door won't stay closed, causing the camera to lose power if the battery shifts slightly during a shot.

Are you looking to replace missing external port covers, or are you preparing to open the camera for a deeper internal repair?
