The Hollyland Tally Signal Universal Converter is an essential piece of hardware designed to bridge the gap between 3rd-party live production video switchers and Hollyland wireless systems (most notably the Mars T1000 and Syscom 1000T intercom grids).
In live video production, "Tally" is the red/green light system that lets camera operators and on-screen talent know which camera is currently live ("Program" / Red) and which camera is coming up next ("Preview" / Green). Because different switcher manufacturers use varying voltage triggers and pin layouts, this converter normalizes those signals so they can be cast wirelessly to your crew's beltpacks and hot-shoe mounted tally lamps.
Key Capabilities
-
Multi-Format Interconnection: It receives data directly from the video switching station via industrial connectors and translates it instantly into visual indicators for cameras, monitors, and wireless beltpacks.
-
Broad Switcher Compatibility: Designed to parse incoming tally formats from mainstream video switchers (such as Blackmagic Design ATEM, Roland, Datavideo, Sony, or Panasonic systems).
-
Dual-Color Tally Display Routing: It maps both Red (PGM / Program / Live On-Air) and Green (PVW / Preview / Next up) signal paths seamlessly across the production floor.
-
Hardware Status Monitoring: The interface is equipped with independent physical LED indicator lights for each separate channel signal control path, allowing engineers to diagnose communication links instantly.
Interface Configuration & Layout
The device features an industrial, robust metal chassis designed to survive the rigors of mobile production flight cases and machine racks:
-
DB25 Tally Input Port (Female): The main interface port used to connect parallel tally breakout cables coming out of professional video switchers.
-
8-Channel Discrete Inputs: Supports up to 8 independent channels of tally data passing through the converter layer simultaneously.
-
USB-C Terminal Port: Handles internal firmware upgrades, configuration communication, and can act as an alternative USB 5V digital power source.
-
Rugged Steel Housing: Offers electromagnetic shielding to prevent the data lines from introducing RF noise or humming interference into adjacent audio gear or wireless intercom base stations.
What's Typically Packaged In The Box?
-
1 × Hollyland Tally Signal Universal Converter Box
-
1 × Power Adapter
-
1 × USB Type-C Cable
-
Note: Breakout custom switcher cables (like a DB25 to Blackmagic GPI/Tally interface cable) are typically sourced separately depending on your specific switcher brand model.
Signal Optimization Tip: If you connect the universal converter to your switcher and notice that your tally lamps are inverted (e.g., lighting up green when they are supposed to be red), do not panic or rewire the pins. Most modern Hollyland base stations (like the Syscom 1000T) include a "Tally Set" menu directly in their LCD firmware. You can jump into the settings menu to flip the high/low voltage logic matrix to align perfectly with your specific switcher's relay output architecture without replacing any hardware.
