The Hollyland Vcore is a compact, highly versatile hardware bridge designed for solo content creators, independent filmmakers, and digital-tech photographers. Rather than functioning as a standard wireless video transmitter that requires a dedicated hardware receiver, the Vcore primarily utilizes an all-in-one approach to transform smartphones and tablets into high-performance production monitors, backup recorders, and livestreaming rigs.

The system operates across a 5 GHz frequency band, boasting a line-of-sight transmission range of up to 350 feet (100 meters) with a latency rating of ~65ms to 80ms.

Core Workflows & Functionality

1. Monitoring Ecosystem (Wired & Wireless)

The Vcore bridges a camera to mobile devices via the proprietary HollyView App (compatible with iOS and Android).

  • Wired Mode: By mounting the Vcore to a camera rig via its cold shoe, a smartphone can be physically clamped to the unit. Connecting the camera to the Vcore via HDMI, and the Vcore to the smartphone via USB-C, turns the phone into a zero-latency, high-brightness on-camera monitor capable of displaying up to 4K30 video feeds.

  • Wireless Transmission: The Vcore can simultaneously broadcast video feeds wirelessly to up to four smartphones or tablets on set, allowing directors, clients, or pull-focus pulling technicians to monitor shots simultaneously. Furthermore, it can interconnect natively with Hollyland’s Pyro-series hardware receivers.

2. Dual-Backup & Proxy Recording

The Vcore features a built-in MicroSD card slot and an independent encoding processor:

  • Transmitter-Side Recording: It records lightweight 1080p60 proxy files (H.264 video codec) directly onto its internal storage. It automatically detects and embeds the host camera's frame rate and native timecode metadata. This design allows editors utilizing Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve to smoothly link proxy files to original camera files during post-production.

  • App-Side Synchronous Recording: When recording starts, the connected smartphone or tablet can execute synchronous recording via the HollyView app in MP4 format. If an iOS device is paired, the platform even supports Apple ProRes recording formats, creating an immediate, high-fidelity capture pipeline for rapid social media deployment.

3. Wireless Photo Tethering (HollyLink & Capture One)

Expanding past standard video frameworks, the Vcore incorporates a dedicated wireless photo tethering pipeline targeting commercial and architectural photographers:

  • Using a dedicated computer plug-in called HollyLink, the Vcore establishes a dual-link layout: the camera feeds uncompressed images into the Vcore via a USB cable, while the Vcore broadcasts the files wirelessly to a Mac or Windows PC via Wi-Fi.

  • This allows RAW or JPEG files to instantly inject into editing suites like Capture One while shooting, completely removing the safety hazard or physical restriction of running a 30-foot tethering cable across a set.

4. RTMP Livestreaming & Green Screen Keying

For mobile and outdoor broadcast operations, the Vcore serves as an independent encoding gateway. By tapping into a smartphone’s cellular data or local network, creators can stream camera feeds directly to destinations like YouTube and Twitch via RTMP transmission through the app's built-in SDK. Additionally, the HollyView software includes real-time Chroma Keying (green screen) preview algorithms, allowing crews to verify composite effects instantly while on location.
