The Kiloview NDI CORE Pro (cataloged as KIL-NDI-CORE-PRO) is an enterprise-grade software system engineered to centralize, manage, and route massive volumes of NDI video traffic across a local area network.
The acronym "CORE" stands for Control, Organize, Route, and Everything. Acting as a virtualized digital matrix switcher or master router patch-bay for IP video, the Pro version allows production teams to seamlessly ingest an unlimited number of NDI sources and distribute them to an unlimited number of destinations with ultra-low latency.
Core Engineering and Operational Features
-
Unlimited High-Density I/O Routing: Unlike the "Basic" license tier (which limits external and third-party NDI inputs), the Pro version removes all software ceilings. It natively ingests and manages unlimited streams of Full NDI (High Bandwidth), NDI|HX2, and NDI|HX3 from any NDI-enabled camera, encoder, smartphone, or media server at resolutions up to 4K at 60 frames per second.
-
1-Frame Ultra-Low-Latency Switching: The underlying software engine mimics traditional hardware SDI matrix switchers. It provides clean, frame-accurate cross-point switching that completes in roughly 1 frame (less than 33 milliseconds), eliminating the frame lags, stuttering, pixelated macroblocks, or black screens that usually happen when switching IP streams manually.
-
Point-to-Multipoint Signal Amplification (Relay): When multiple destinations (such as multi-view monitors, recorders, and decoders) request the same NDI source stream simultaneously, it can easily choke the transmitting camera's network port. NDI CORE Pro solves this by pulling one master stream from the camera, copying and amplifying it inside the server memory, and distributing it to as many destinations as your hardware's network pipe can hold.
-
Automated Playlist Polling and Loops: The Pro edition includes an advanced auto-switching playlist scheduler. Engineers can build sequential stream lists, setting custom playback durations and transition parameters for each feed. This makes it highly useful for master control room overrides, automated digital signage, or surveillance camera loops.
-
Dual Layout Management Panels: Operators can interface with the system using two distinct visual layouts: a standard I/O Panel (list-based point-and-click routing) or a professional Crosspoint Grid Matrix Panel (resembling a traditional broadcast router interface for rapid configuration).
-
Transparent Metadata & Control Pass-Through: The software acts as a pass-through bridge for supplementary stream data. It guarantees that bi-directional PTZ camera controls, active Tally light signals, and frame-accurate timecode metadata remain intact as the stream travels through the router matrix.
Host Server Technical Architecture Requirements
Because NDI CORE Pro does not cap input or output streams, its operational limits depend entirely on the processing power and throughput capabilities of the Linux server or Docker environment hosting it.
| Parameter | Minimum Requirements | Recommended Production Specs |
| Operating System | Linux (Ubuntu Server environment) | Linux deployed via standalone Docker |
| Processor Architecture | x86-64, Minimum 4 physical cores | 8-core / 16-thread Core i7 or Xeon equivalent |
| Base CPU Clock Speed | 1.5 GHz or higher | 3.0 GHz or higher |
| System RAM Allocation | Not less than 16 Gigabytes | 32 Gigabytes or higher |
| Physical Network Link | 1GbE Copper (Strictly for small test environments) | 10GbE SFP+ Fiber or dual bonded 10GbE array |
💡 Operational System Tips for NDI CORE Pro
The 10GbE Network Bandwidth Safety Math: While the software license says "Unlimited Inputs," your network card doesn't. A single 1080p60 Full NDI video stream takes up roughly 125 Megabits per second, and a 4K60 stream pushes up to 250 Megabits per second. If your host server is running on a standard 1GbE network card, you will completely choke your connection at just 7 or 8 HD streams. For professional multi-cam environments running NDI CORE Pro, install a dual-port 10GbE or 40GbE network card on your server to give yourself the massive data runway required to route dozens of simultaneous high-bandwidth feeds.
-
Leverage Role Management for Crew Safety: In a high-stakes live broadcast environment, an accidental mouse click on the central router can instantly drop a camera feed from your main program line. Use the software's built-in Role Management and Access Control dashboard to lock things down. Assign your Master Engineer full administrative configuration rights, while locking local replay operators, graphics artists, or multi-view technicians into restricted observer roles where they can only adjust their own designated cross-points.
