The Kiloview NDI CORE Hardware Version (often referred to as the NDI CORE Max) is a specialized enterprise rackmount server designed to centralize and automate large-scale NDI architectures.
While Kiloview offers the NDI CORE as software (Basic and Pro versions) deployed via Docker, the hardware version is a pre-configured, turnkey solution. It eliminates the hassle of manually building a server, software compatibility testing, or dealing with container deployments.
Core Hardware Specifications
Kiloview builds this infrastructure into a rugged enterprise chassis designed for stable 24/7 broadcast or live production workloads:
-
Processor: Intel Core i7 16-Core CPU (e.g., i7-13700KF or similar generation depending on exact build variant).
-
Memory: 32GB DDR4/DDR5 Dual-Channel RAM.
-
Storage: 128GB SSD system drive.
-
Network: Dual 10G SFP+ Fiber ports (with optional upgrade paths to 40G) alongside traditional Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for control.
-
Thermal Design: Custom cooling architecture including a internal water-cooled radiator and four cooling fans.
-
Power Reliability: Dual 800W hot-swappable redundant power supplies.
-
Built-in Interface: Features a 5.5-inch front panel touch screen for quick status monitoring, system diagnostics, and basic local control.
Key Capabilities & Video Routing Performance
The hardware system acts as a virtual matrix switcher, signal cleaner, and amplifier for NDI streams.
| Metric / Feature | Capability |
| Throughput Options | Available in hardware configurations tested explicitly for 32×32 or 64×64 concurrent full NDI inputs/outputs. |
| NDI Format Support | Full NDI (High Bandwidth), NDI|HX, and NDI|HX3. |
| Resolution & Video Orientation | Supports up to 4K at 60fps; completely compatible with both standard horizontal and vertical video layouts. |
| Switching Latency | Ultra-low, clean signal switching with approximately 1-frame delay at the switcher end. |
What Makes It Distinct From Software Deployments?
-
Seamless Clean Switching: Unlike basic software setups where switching sources can cause a black flash or momentary signal loss, the hardware system smoothly auto-detects and transitions between sources with zero stutter or blurring. No hardware frame synchronizer is required.
-
Signal Amplification (Relay): If you need to distribute a single NDI camera source to ten different destinations (decoders, recorders, multi-viewers), doing so directly can choke your network bandwidth. The NDI CORE ingests that single stream once, amplifies/duplicates it on its own backplane, and handles distribution to multiple targets effortlessly.
-
Automated Playlists & Polling: You can configure the hardware server to sequentially loop through designated NDI streams (e.g., auto-switching camera feeds every 10 seconds), which makes it excellent for master control rooms, digital signage, and security monitoring.
-
Data and Signal Passthrough: Fully preserves bidirectional Metadata, Tally signals, and PTZ control information across the entire virtual cross-point routing matrix. It also fully integrates into the Kiloview Intercom System.
When to opt for the Hardware version: If your production cannot tolerate software-layer instability, requires hot-standby server capability, or if you simply need an appliance that can be unboxed, plugged into a 10GbE network switch via fiber, and handle massive cross-routing volumes immediately.
