This is an essential, highly cross-compatible hardware accessory engineered specifically for Libec's modern fluid head lineup. Its primary mechanical purpose is to drastically extend the physical sliding balance window for cameras with highly asymmetrical weight distributions—such as setups utilizing heavy front matte boxes, deep telephoto glass, or bulky rear-mounted V-mount battery rigs.
Universal Cross-Compatibility Mapping
The design achievement of this plate is its backward and forward compatibility across Libec's entry-level, mid-tier, and high-end broadcast systems. It drops directly into the side-load or slide-in channels of the following specific models:
-
Entry-to-Mid Fluid Heads: Libec 650EX, TH-X H, and TH-Z H
-
Flagship Ultra-Lightweight Series: Libec NH10 and NH30 (from the NX-100 and NX-300 carbon systems)
-
Advanced Production Series: Libec H15, H25, H35, and H45 (from the HS series)
Core Engineering Features
1. Drastically Extended Tuning Window
While a standard camera plate typically offers a restrictive sliding threshold, the Extra Long Plate expands the sliding capability significantly. It allows the operator to slide a camera rig roughly plus or minus 55mm (plus or minus 2.16 inches) forward or backward from the center position. This extra length helps you find a perfect 0 degrees center-of-gravity balance point without needing to resort to clumsy rail counterweights.
2. Dual-Screwed Rigidity
To prevent camera "twist"—a common issue when mounting heavy cinema rigs with a single centering screw—the plate features parallel dual-slotted tracking channels. It includes both industry-standard 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws, allowing you to lock the bottom of your camera cage or tripod adapter plate at two distinct points for maximum security.
3. Integrated Structural Measuring Scale
The side profile of the plate features a laser-etched millimetric measurement scale. This index graphic is crucial for high-speed field workflows; once you calculate the exact balance sweet-spot for a specific camera and lens package, you can write down the millimeter mark and instantly repeat that exact physical alignment position during your next setup.

Operational System Tips for the Long Plate S:
💡 The Rig Balancing Checklist: When setting up a heavily customized digital cinema camera package, avoid tightening the camera plate screws fully at first. Mount the plate loosely to the base of your camera cage, snap the assembly into the fluid head, and unclamp the fluid head drag down to 0 degrees. Manually shift the camera forward or backward along the plate tracking line until the rig remains perfectly level when you let go of the handle. Once this balance equilibrium is found, lock down the side clamp first, slide the camera back out, and then tighten the bottom camera screws with a coin or tool.

Using the Video Registration Pin: If you are mounting a standard compact camcorder or a mirrorless baseplate that features a small positioning dimple next to the main screw thread, leave the spring-loaded plastic alignment pin inside the plate slot. If you are attaching a flat-bottomed modular cinema cage that lacks this dimple hole, you can easily pop the plastic pin out from the underside of the plate to ensure the metal seating pads sit perfectly flush against your rig.
