This setup serves as Libec's core 75mm bowl aluminum production system. It provides an incredibly rigid, reliable baseline for independent content creators, corporate video teams, and event videographers operating rigged mirrorless setups, DSLRs, or compact camcorders weighing up to a maximum payload capacity of 4.0 kg to 5.0 kg (9.0 lbs to 11.0 lbs).
Core Component Breakdown & Performance Engineering
1. The Foundation: LX5 Fluid Head
-
Torque-Optimized Fluid Cartridges: The internal panning and tilting mechanics utilize fixed real fluid drag modules. This layout provides smooth, deliberate movement resistance, completely neutralizing jerks or micro-vibrations when you initiate or complete a panoramic camera stroke.
-
Fixed Structural Counterbalance: To maximize setup speed out in the field, the head relies on a fixed internal spring balance mechanism. It is precisely tensioned to counteract lightweight modern camera packages, preventing the lens from tilting or dropping unexpectedly when you let go of the pan bar.
-
All-Weather Resilience: The structural silicone grease behaves uniformly across an operating window ranging from negative 20 degrees Celsius to positive 60 degrees Celsius (negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit to positive 140 degrees Fahrenheit).
2. Low Center-of-Gravity Stability: Aluminum Legs & SP-2B Floor Spreader
-
Double-Profile Leg Upper Stages: The aluminum alloy legs utilize a dual-tube design on their upper sections. This double-strut framing delivers excellent torsional rigidity, ensuring the tripod struts will not flex or twist out of alignment when you are panning a lens quickly.
-
Ground Spreader Advantage: By utilizing the SP-2B Floor Spreader, the legs link together at the lowest physical contact point on the floor. This layout significantly drops the system's center of gravity and prevents leg splay on slick, hard surfaces like polished studio floors, event venue stages, or concrete pads. The independent telescoping sections on the spreader arms allow you to broaden the footprint, dropping the camera down to a minimum operating height of 56.0 cm (22.0 inches).
3. Balancing & Travel Accessories
-
Sliding Quick Release Plate: Features a standard sliding travel window of plus or minus 40mm (plus or minus 1.6 inches) to quickly counteract the weight of front-heavy zoom lenses or rear-heavy wireless audio receivers.
-
TC-70 Padded Travel Case: A high-durability, zippered transit case lined with protective foam padding to safeguard your fluid head and leg castings during vehicle transport.

Operational System Tips for the LX5:
💡 The Flat Ground Boundary: The floor spreader is phenomenal for flat studio environments or concrete surfaces. However, if you are forced to shoot outdoors on steps, steep hillsides, or rough mud, a floor spreader can flex out of parallel alignment and stress the leg locks. For rugged terrain, simply detach the floor spreader from the leg pins and rely on the integrated spiked feet to bite firmly into the earth.
-
Light-Gathering Bubble Level: The fluid head housing features a built-in circular bubble level right next to the bowl clamp. The glass is engineered to collect ambient room light, making it highly visible and easy to read without a flashlight when leveling your 75mm ball base in dark event spaces.
